Step into a world of music, imagination and adventure with Úna Coello’s much-loved themed Singalong classes, specially created for babies, toddlers, preschoolers and their grown-ups.
A qualified Early Years teacher and music educator, Úna has been inspiring families across the Kingston area for over 13 years. Originally from Ireland, she grew up in a highly musical household steeped in Irish traditional music, where singing and music-making were part of everyday life. She later moved to the UK to study drama and, while at university, was the lead singer in a rock band—experiences that helped shape the energetic, engaging and interactive style for which her classes are known today.
Alongside running her popular Singalongs and directing the Bella Mamas Social Singing Club, Úna works with local schools as a freelance music teacher and delivers themed workshops and assemblies throughout the year. Her greatest inspiration, however, has come from her own three children, who have happily served as her “guinea pigs” as she developed and refined her Singalong programmes over the years.
Each Singalong is a fully immersive themed experience, bringing stories and characters to life through live music, singing, movement, instruments and imaginative play. Whether you’re setting sail with pirates, stomping with dinosaurs, enjoying spooky Halloween fun or celebrating the festive season with Santa Claus, every class is packed with energy, creativity and laughter.
A hallmark of Úna’s Singalongs is the extraordinary themed environments she creates for each event. Children are invited into a world of imagination through carefully designed sets featuring themed props, toys, dressing-up costumes, fabrics, foliage, seasonal surprises and interactive displays. From life-sized dinosaurs and friendly animals to bubble machines, treasure chests, magical seasonal treats and sensory elements, every detail is thoughtfully chosen to spark curiosity, wonder and imaginative play.
Unlike many children’s music sessions, all music is performed live by Úna, creating an engaging and interactive experience for children and adults alike. Families are encouraged to sing, dance and join in using a variety of percussion instruments provided during the session. The result is a rich, multi-sensory experience that captures children’s imaginations while nurturing a lifelong love of music and creativity.
As well as being tremendous fun, these classes help nurture children’s confidence, creativity, listening skills, coordination and natural musical instincts. Through music and movement, children develop self-expression and social skills while building confidence in a warm and welcoming environment. The imaginative themes encourage curiosity, storytelling and creative thinking, while the shared experience of making music together helps children feel included and valued.
The classes are also a wonderful way for adults to connect. New parents often find lasting friendships through the Singalongs, sharing the joys and challenges of early parenthood with others at a similar stage of life. Grandparents and other carers are equally welcome, and many enjoy bringing their grandchildren along for a special shared experience filled with laughter, music and memories. It is not uncommon for families to return again and again, becoming part of the wider Singalong community.
