The Art of Jazz is an exhibition celebrating the life and work of the late, great Freddy Warren, the music photographer who captured Ronnie Scott’s Jazz Club in the 1950s and ’60s, when legends of the jazz world were filling the club with transformative sounds. Artists including Miles Davis, Ella Fitzgerald, Thelonious Monk and Duke Ellington, and many more, were frozen in time by Freddy’s lens.

Freddy tragically died in a house fire in 2010. After this event, his nephew Simon Whittle rescued thousands of photographs from the remains of his home and has worked endlessly to preserve and share his work. Freddy’s images have since appeared on record sleeves and have been featured in The Guardian newspaper, while many are now permanently displayed at Ronnie Scott’s Jazz Club in Soho.

This is not only an exhibition celebrating the life and work of Freddy Warren, but also an exhibition celebrating the art of jazz. Freddy’s work will be hung alongside a group of exciting artists who have created artworks celebrating jazz and its enduring relevance.

The exhibition runs from 16th November – 16th January

Opening hours: 10:00am – 3:00pm Tuesdays to Saturdays.
