Küçükken pembelerle bezenip, kabarık eteklerle tüm yolculukları babasının omuzlarında yapan o prenseslerin değil, üstünde pazardan alınmış yün elbisesi, altında taytı, ayaklarında patiğiyle annesinin altın gününde Mezdeke göbeği atan kızın hikayesi. Çocuklara koşulsuz verilen sevgiyi bileğinin ve gerdan kırmalarının gücüyle kendi kazanan ‘kara kız’ın hikayesi...Biliyorum hiç yabancı gelmiyor kulağa…
Kahramanımız bir yılbaşı akşamında sevgilisi tarafından ekilince yapayalnız kalacağını düşündüğü sırada çocukken doldurduğu karışık kaseti bulacak. O karışık kasetle çocukluğuna, gençliğine doğru, kahkahası bol bir yolculuğa çıkacak, sokakta halı yıkayacak, saçlarını ütüleyip kuzeninin düğününde halay çekecek.
Dönüş yolunda özgüvensiz ruhu için suçladığı tanıdık bir ses duyacak sonra… Annesi!...
Bu, daha önce annesinin ağzından hiç duymadığı bir şarkı. Ama nihayet birlikte söyleyebilecekleri bir şarkı. Bundan daha iyi bir yılbaşı akşamı olamazdı. E o zaman bu kadeh bizim şerefimize annecim, hadi beraber söyleyelim!
Oyun, 6 Nisan’da Beşiktaş Kültür Merkezi’nde prömiyer yapacak ve birçok farklı salonda seyirci ile buluşmaya devam edecek.

*Kara Kız*, a one-woman musical play written and performed by Ecem Erkek, is the story of a girl growing up in a traditional family during the 90s. It is not the story of those princesses who—decked out in pink and puffy skirts—made every journey perched on their fathers' shoulders; rather, it is the story of the girl who, wearing a wool dress bought from the local market, leggings, and booties, danced the *Mezdeke* belly dance at her mother’s "gold day" gathering. It is the story of the "dark-haired girl" who earned the unconditional love usually given to children through the power of her own wrist and neck movements... I know, it doesn't sound unfamiliar at all...
On New Year's Eve, just as our protagonist thinks she will be left all alone after being stood up by her boyfriend, she discovers a mixtape she had made as a child. With that mixtape, she embarks on a laughter-filled journey back to her childhood and youth; she washes carpets on the street, irons her hair, and dances the *halay* at her cousin's wedding.
Then, on the journey back, she hears a familiar voice—one she had blamed for her own insecure spirit... Her mother's!
It is a song she had never heard her mother sing before. But finally, it is a song they can sing together. There couldn't be a better New Year's Eve than this. So, this toast is to us, Mom—come on, let's sing together!
