Reily and Friends - Christmas Program

Reily Memorial United Methodist Church in Collinston has had a choir as far back as anyone can remember. During the 80’s, choir members numbered about five, but there has always been at least one person for each of the four parts for harmony. They decided in 2005 to perform a Christmas cantata after several of the members got together with other churches. Word got out and others began to proclaim their hidden musical talents. Reilly and Friends was formed at this time after several people from the community that play various instruments joined the group. Some of the musicians are “multi-talented and sing solos and duets. Word once more got out again that this group played “live” music. Talented singers from other churches in the parish were encouraged to join the group. The number of singers and musicians vary from performance to performance depending on the season of the year as many are involved in farming and local businesses. Musicians and singers were inspired to branch out into secular music and productions pulled together from the popular movies “O Brother Where Art Thou” and “Cold Mountain”. Reily and Friends have also performed several Christmas productions as well as a Patriotic Program in Morehouse, Ouachita and Franklin parishes. In 2008 Reily and Friends” recorded a CD of several of the most requested songs. There is a comfortable blend of gospel, traditional, ballads and blue grass.
